Glenn Skotdal

Instructor Glenn Skotdal has taught martial arts to students of all ages for over thirty years and brings a broad, well-rounded perspective to his teaching of Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong.

Glenn began his martial arts journey in the early 1980’s in the martial art of Uechi Ryu Karate. This quest has continued with the study of Goju Kai Karate, Ju-Jitsu, Wing Chun Kung Fu, Chin Min Gong Chi Kung Fu and Tai Chi Chuan. Instructor Skotdal currently holds a Sixth Degree Black Belt in Ju-Jitsu, Instructor Level Black Sashes in Chin Min Gong Chi Kung Fu and Quan Shou Dao Kung Fu and Level Five in Wing Chun Kung Fu.

In 1991, Glenn was first introduced to Tai Chi Chuan by Sifu Martin Mellish while recuperating from a martial arts related knee injury. The training with Sifu Mellish included instruction in both the Yang and Chen styles of Tai Chi Chuan.

Glenn has also had the privilege of training in Yang style Tai Chi Chuan with Grandmaster William C . C. Chen and Sifu Ron Jorgensen.

Grandmaster William C. C. Chen, who currently is teaching in New York City, holds seminars around the world to promote his unique Yang style of Tai Chi Chuan. As a young person, Grandmaster Chen was a live-in student of Grandmaster Cheng Man Ching and an instructor under his tutelage.

Sifu Ron Jorgensen, who is a longtime student of Grandmaster Chen, is an accomplished poet and instructor with more than forty years of teaching Yang style Tai Chi Chuan and Yoga.

In addition to teaching at Meridian Tai Chi, Glenn continues his personal growth in Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong through ongoing personal training as well as the study and exploration of other styles of Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong, their concepts and techniques.
